Level Up League: Future Superintendents

LSBA's Level Up League is looking for prospective leaders to make a future impact as a Superintendent in a Louisiana school district.

Future Superintendents
May 2024 - May 2025

The LSBA’s Level Up League is operated by the Louisiana School Boards Association and is a yearlong training module designed to prepare potential candidates for superintendent positions in Louisiana’s public schools. The training will provide intensive, in-depth preparation for the challenging job of being a public-school superintendent. Support for the Level Up League is covered by the tuition paid. Candidates are additionally responsible for their own travel, lodging, meals, and incidental expenses to attend the Level Up League sessions.

  • Budget & Finance Instructional Leadership

  • Law & Operations

  • Mock Candidate Interviews/Evaluations

  • Other areas of focus include communications, technology uses, facilities, and timely hot topics.

Eligibility: Candidates must be currently employed by a school system that is a member of the LSBA. Candidates are responsible for securing approval from their school system to participate in the program.

Certification: To successfully “Level-Up” and earn a certificate of completion for the League, candidates will be expected to attend sessions and participate in all assignments and activities

Experts

The educational leader experts will include Louisiana’s top educational leaders and other experts in the field. The LSBA is committed to helping school systems grow and foster the next generation of leaders who want to "Level Up" and become superintendents.

Training

A group of up to 20 candidates will be selected to participate in the Level Up League. Participants will attend 8 sessions (totaling 9 1/2 days) covering a variety of topics that will prepare prospective superintendents for future leadership opportunities.

Your Commitment

In addition to attending the sessions, participants will be expected to complete assignments and engage in collaborative projects. The Level Up League is designed to foster statewide communication and collaboration and a full commitment is necessary to the candidate's success.

January 17, 2025 - Law and Operations

February 14, 2025 - Communications, Facilities, Technology, Hot Topics

March 9-11, 2025 - LSBA Annual Convention

April/May 2025 (date TBD) - Level Up Graduation and Exchange (LSBA Capitol Conference)

Candidates wishing to be considered for admission must apply no later than March 31, 2024. Candidates will be notified of admission status for the 2024-2025 Level Up League: Future Superintendents by April 2, 2024. If you are selected to participate in the program, please note the first class is Wednesday, April 17th. Please check your calendar to be sure you can attend on that day.
