St. Charles Parish Public Schools

Is seeking applicant to fill the following position:

Superintendent

Minimum Requirements:

Master's Degree in Education;  Type A Louisiana teacher certification with endorsement as Parish or City School Superintendent, Louisiana Educational Leader Certificate Level 3 or be eligible for the aforementioned; five years of successful school experience (state, parish, city) as a superintendent, assistant superintendent, supervisor of instruction, or principal in a state-approved system, or experience certified by BESE as the equivalent to any of these.

 The successful candidate will be:

  • A collaborative leader and consensus builder who has the ability to work with strong personalities, is open to different opinions, and willing to utilize the suggestions of others
  • A high-level communicator who demonstrates powerful interpersonal skills and is able to build positive relationships with all stakeholders through ongoing involvement and visibility in the schools and the community
  • A strong financial manager with a good business sense and thorough understanding of state school finance and school budgeting, including the ability to secure non-traditional funding
  • An effective leader and innovative, strategic thinker who is capable of raising the bar on  student achievement
  • A firm decision-maker and problem-solver who understands the changing nature of the school community and is able to create a culture of solidarity by inspiring staff
  • An experienced educational leader who is knowledgeable of best educational practices and has demonstrated success as evidenced by high levels of student achievement and/or growth
